Mom! I'm peeing!

So apparently my blog for Her Rochester was highlighted in the Democrat and Chronicle this past Tuesday. Now everyone knows that Houston tries to get me to hold his boogers ;)  I had no idea until I saw someone referring to it online. My BFF's mom saved a copy for me so I got to see it for the first time tonight.

Pretty cool I guess. Cool enough to go on my parent's fridge! I hate the picture they keep using though. I look a little like a man... A bald man. It's OK. I know you were all thinking it. I swear, if I can ever get my hair to be nice and healthy looking again, I will always wear it down or BIG. That way when people see pictures of me, they will see that yes, in fact I do have hair. And no, I do not have a man's hair cut.

You lose a lot of things when you have children (Not just healthy hair) For example:

My mind. Like those "mom brain" moments where I forget to wear shoes. Or that we have a 4th child.

My sensitivity to smell. I haven't met a poopy diaper that could make me gag since the first kid.

My stomach muscles.

My bladder control. I have a standing appointment in the bathroom around 3am every morning.

My privacy. Remember the days when you could use the bathroom in peace? Yeah. I don't either.

To be fair, you gain a lot of things when you have children:

Weight

Super hero hearing. I can hear a kid trying to sneak a snack from the kitchen 2 rooms away!

The ability to multi task. I can talk on the phone, make a sandwich, and post on Face Book, all at the same time.

A thick skin. It's pretty hard for my kids to embarrass me anymore. Like when Houston said, "Mom! Mom! I'm peeing!" In the middle of a testimony at church last night...I didn't even bat an eye. I did laugh a little though :)

The ability to love unconditionally. Even when they are dirty, sick, or naughty, I will love my little gang no matter what. Even if I never receive anything in return, I will give them all I have.

"Houston, we have a problem!"

*Cross posted to Her Rochester*

If I had a dollar for every time someone (maybe me) has said that to my son, I'd have enough money to move out of the ghetto ;). Sometimes it really fits the situation though. Like this past Sunday. We were in the middle of church when a very worried Logan tapped me on the shoulder.

"Mom! Mom!"

"What Logan?"

"Mom, Houston shoved a mint up his nose!"

*That got my attention*

I looked over at Houston who had a big smile on his face. He also had his finger shoved up his nose.

I picked him up and went to grab a friend of mine who is a nurse. At that point I could smell the mint that was starting to melt in his nose. Thankfully he hadn't managed to shove it too far up there, and with one good blow, if flew out of his nostril and into my hand. Houston started crying, not because he was in any pain, but because I had thrown away his mint!!

After church my mom took my dad and the family out to lunch. We went to a new Chinese buffet in town. At first I thought that I was in my own little heaven and so did my gang. But afterward when I was stuffed and still felt full that night I was like WTH? No one woman should eat as much food as I did that day. No really...It was bad!

Lesson learned: Never let this chunky girl loose at a buffet. She WILL eat her money's worth.

And so will her 4 kids!

Early that evening, we went back to my parent's house for dessert *Why Lord? Why?* And to just hang out. I don't know if it was all the MSG that he consumed or what, but at one point Houston thought it would be a good time to take off his clothes...
Add another dollar to my "Get out of the ghetto" fund.

Lets just pretend we never had this conversation

First off, I am really excited about the new "mom's blog" I'm writing for Her Rochester. I'm still going to keep blogging my more personal thoughts here, but I think it's going to be a fun challenge to have to write a new blog every Tuesday (at least) for strangers. And it will also be a cool way to meet some new people :)

The weather here could not have been more beautiful these past couple of days! We have been spending a ton of time outside and that has been a really nice change. But do you ever have one of those days where you just want to hide under a rock or maybe your covers? Well that's how I'm feeling today. I should be super happy right now because both of the boys are done with school and Ethan did great on his final test. Yea!  But what I would really love to do is lock myself in my room with my book, laptop, and phone and just...be. OK, and food. I'd want food too :) That's not gonna happen today though so instead I'm just kind of taking it easy. I got the kitchen cleaned and we made some "yea! School is over" cookies, and that's it. I think I deserve a break after the stress I had to endure yesterday.

I had a talk with Ethan yesterday that ended in him saying "Lets just pretend we never had this conversation." Yes friends, it has begun. Blah! I'm sooo not ready for this grown up stuff yet! I did get through it without giggling like a little school girl so that was good right?  And it wasn't THE TALK. Just a conversation about bodies. :/  Next time though, I'm going to make him call stinkin Jonathan at work!

He (Ethan) is growing up so fast! I know I say that all the time. The other day our neighbors, who are both women, *wink wink* were outside building something. Ethan was very concerned that they were doing the work themselves. He kept saying how strange it was to see a lady doing hard work and holding a hammer and that they shouldn't be doing that! lol! I didn't know if I should be proud of the boy, or ashamed of myself. I do want him to be a gentleman, but maybe momma needs to show her boy that she isn't afraid of doing some manual labor now and then!... Maybe... But not today. Today I'm going to eat a couple of "Yea! Schools over" cookies and enjoy this beautiful weather.
